Sonic blue, black, three tone sunburst, all look beautiful with double white/cream binding and a rosewood fretboard. Maple: Blonde (butterscotch or vintage/white) with blackguard all the way. That's probably the best looking Tele. But blonde with a rosewood fretboard looks bad to me. So the fretboard definitely matters.

If it sounds and plays well, it will look GREAT in any color! Teles are very adaptable, both sonically and visually. However, I think you first have to decide if you want a rosewood or maple board. That will move some colors/pickguard combinations to the fore. Also, if you're going for a particular era/vibe, that may narrow your choices as well.
